Media (Almost) 'Hottest Up and Coming Neighborhood'

Phoenixville beat out Media for the best up and coming town in 2013.

Phoenixville is on the rise and by the calculus of the real estate mavens over at Redfin (via Philly.curbed.com), the town was just named the Hottest Up and Coming Neighborhood of 2013.

Phoenixville was chosen from a pool that included Media, Northern Liberties, and West Mount Airy. The rankings were compiled on the basis of input from realtors and good old-fashioned housing data crunching.

So while Media didn't quite make the cut, it's good to know we were in the running. Maybe Media can taken down Phoenixville in 2014.

Congratulations Phoenixville! (But don’t let it go to your head.)

Read the Philly.curbed.com story here, or swing by Redfin for their explanation of the rankings.

media didn't win because no one ever sells their house in media Borough! How can you compile data when there aren't enough sales. Come on, you can't compare the two! Think school system, and location, location

As a Redfin agent who grew up in Media I can add that the reason Media didn't make the top three was because Media has already arrived. If you asked five yrs ago this list would be different. That is also why it is so hard to buy a house in the boro!

My Mother was born in media and my family was raised there. Many long time families and generations of lived all their lives there. But the landscape has changed. Businesses come and go and strange faces at emerging. If you take the time to study the towns history it was an up and coming nighborhood 50 or 60 yrs ago. Now the newbies who know nothing of Medias past think it's the et place to be and they no nothing bout it. Piece are inflated NC th restaurants are overpriced and crowded. Housing is overrated and out have an eclectic mix of old ane new! The best thing about Media is its a good walking town but as it attracts mre outsiders the more dangerous it will become! There was nothin like roller skating down state street and being able to ride your bike everywhere. Now you have obnoxious businesses and crowded streets and an overcrowded elementary school it's a shame that a beautiful town is being spoiled by money seeking businesses and politicians who want nothing more than notoriety!

Sandy, it sounds like you are a bitter woman. Could it be that you now live somewhere that is not as nice as Media and can no longer afford to live in your home town? That's my guess. Your comment is ridiculous.."strange faces are emerging??" - what is that supposed to mean? Should we only allow your old friends and family to buy in Media? Crazy.
