'Precious' Heads to Foster Care Weighing 34 Pounds

Precious, the 3-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix that was found in a flea and feces-infested basement in early June weighing just 19 pounds, is recovering nicely.

The 3-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix named Precious, that was found neglected in a flea and feces-infested basement, is now weighing in at 34 pounds and is ready for foster care.

. Precious was barely-alive amidst water, debris, fleas and feces, according to Director of Community Relations at the Justina Calgiano.

Precious, who was unable to hold her head up when she first arrived at the SPCA, took ago.

Calgiano said Precious has been moved out of isolation at the SPCA and is currently in the kennels. She is headed to foster care next with a woman who has dealt with emaciated dogs previously and will slowly integrate Precious into socializing with other dogs.

Precious adores women but does have some issues with men, Calgiano explained, presumably because her former owner was male.

"We're working on it though and we think it's something she'll be able to correct," Calgiano said.

According to philly.com, Precious' former owner, Elvin Seals, was cited with failure to provide food and failure to provide veterinary care.

Precious has about 10 more pounds to gain to reach her healthy weight.
