Meet Media Borough Council Candidate: Sayre Dixon

Party:  Democrat

Running For:  Media Borough Council

Positions Held Previously/Years in Office:  I have not run for elected office before.  I have worked for the campaigns of Bob Edgar and Joe Sestak.

What are the larger issues facing the municipality and how would you like to see them resolved?

Media's challenges are those of its success. Traffic and development have increased over the years as Media has become a more desirable place to live. I'm glad we have these challenges, rather than the issues that face towns in trouble.  I think that a balanced approach to growth and development is important—allowing Media to continue to develop while remaining sensitive to the needs of its current residents. In my experience, the best way to face challenges is to encourage everyone to get involved in solving them. 

Would you welcome more transparency with the taxpayers? How could you make that possible?

Transparency with residents and businesses should always be a goal for government. I think that Media already does a good job letting its taxpayers know what is going on and responding to their concerns. I believe that the IT strategic plan for the borough will suggest ways to make Media's government even more efficient and open.

If elected, what changes would you like to see in the municipality or what is working well and you'd like to continue?

I think that Media's current success speaks well of the health of our community.  I want to be part of Media's future success, which is why I look forward to the recommendations of the new comprehensive plan.

Why should residents give you their vote?

I work as an events director at a senior center. I believe that my work experience with older adults will bring a greater awareness to council of issues facing seniors in Media. Whatever the age, ethnicity, or background of Media's residents, I will work hard to do right by them.
