Philadelphia Campaign, Militia Muster & Evening Concert with Dill Pickles

The Philadelphia Campaign is a collaborative effort to educate the public on the British conquest of Philadelphia. Hosted by the Newlin Grist Mill, Brandywine Battlefield, Paoli Battlefield, East Goshen Blacksmith Shop and the Colonial Plantation. Visitors pay full price with their first visit and then receive a discount at every other site. East Goshen Blacksmith Shop will be free to the public. Have your ticket stamped at all the sites and enter a drawing for a free membership at the site of your choice.

The Colonial Plantation is hosting the first event for The Philadelphia Campaign with our Militia Muster. The British have landed and the local militia is mustering to defend Pennsylvania. There is not complete agreement about what to do in the face of this British invasion. Loyalist, Quakers, and Patriots all had a different view on which course of action to take. Listen to each side and make your own decision on who to support. Witness how the discussions turn into a skirmish that pits neighbor against neighbor. Musters were also a place to enjoy good food and music. The women will be working the loom, spinning and processing flax. The men will be working with wood and working in the fields. Admission includes a cup of cider to toast to the king or the rebellion. Bring a picnic lunch/dinner or purchase refreshments on-site.

Join us for a 7PM evening concert with The Dill Pickle Old Time Orchestra! The Dill Pickle Old Time Orchestra is comprised of a slew of loosely associated fun loving gents who love playing the old time string band music of North America. Formed in 2008 by Zach Fay, Nik Fox and Brendan Skwire (guitar, fiddle and bass) in West Philadelphia as The Dill Pickles, the band expanded in 2010 to The Dill Pickle Old Time Orchestra, adding tenor banjo and mandolin and the rare but much sought after 'double fiddles'. The pickles love to come out and play all kinds of ho-downs, dances parties and the like. The pickles are often joined by friends, family and animals who just seem to have that pickle spirit.

Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for children & seniors.
