National Volunteer Recognition Program Accepting Local Nominations

For the Salute to Senior Service program, the Media Home Instead Senior Care franchise office is accepting nominations for outstanding local senior volunteers.

Many of us know of a senior who has decided to generously give their times to others, making a lasting difference in their community. Yet, too often, these selfless individuals go unnoticed.

To recognize the nearly one in four U.S. seniors who volunteer, Home Instead Senior Care®, the leading global provider of home-care services for seniors, is sponsoring the 2013 Salute to Senior ServiceSM program.

This amazing program asks Media residents to nominate adults 65 years and older who give 15 hours or more per month to their favorite cause. Nominations are being accepted now through March 31, after which residents can vote online for their own community heroes before winners from each state are announced in May.

Home Instead will be honoring state winners with a $500 donation to a nonprofit organization of the winner’s choosing, as well as sharing their stories online on the Salute to Senior Service Wall of Fame. In addition, $5,000 will be donated to the national winner’s nonprofit charity of choice.

The Media Home Instead Office is encouraging all residents, as well as area businesses and leaders, to consider nominating some of the many extraordinary senior volunteers in the Media community that help make it an amazing place to live.

To complete and submit a nomination form online or view the contest’s official rules, visit www.SalutetoSeniorService.com. Completed nomination forms may also be mailed to: Salute to Senior Service, P.O. Box 285, Bellevue, NE 68005.
