Young at Art
Malachy McCormack, a resident of Rose Tree Place in Media, has been awarded a Young at Art feature in Expressions 2014, an award-winning calendar celebrating active aging and the arts. His acrylic painting entitled “A Day in the Park” was selected from hundreds of submissions by artists coast to coast.
McCormack, who has had no formal art training, painted the image in 2013 while a resident of Rose Tree Place. Since moving to the community in 2012, the Philadelphia native has enjoyed being actively engaged in community life. He especially enjoys crafts, playing cards and being with people.

“We established the Young at Art section of Expressions to recognize new and emerging artists, like Malachy McCormack, as they try their hand at an art form or craft for the first time,” said Jill Hofer, Director of Communications for Watermark. “We want everyone to remember that creativity is ageless and engaging in creative endeavors is important at every age,” she said.
