Smart Home Renovations

Adding value to your home with renovations for every budget.

If you own a home, you likely spend some part of the weekend working around the house. And if you're thinking of selling, or simply increasing the value of your home, there are renovations you can make that will take little time and money, and others that could break the bank. Whatever your DIY expertise may be, there are different levels of projects you can take on that will turn your house into the home of your or someone else's dreams.

Quick & Easy Investment: Clean and De-Clutter your home. Who needs a stack of torn magazines or your now 10-year-old's collection of infant toys? With a little time spent you can clear out all the unused items in your home and make the space look larger. Try rearranging furniture to create an open flow through your home.

Get Your Hands Dirty: Landscaping is a no-brainer if you want to have a good first impression of your home. Even if you don't have a green thumb, by just trimming the shrubs, mulching, and strategically placing plants in bright colored pots, can clean up and brighten your home's exterior.

Pull Out Your Checkbook: Adding a bathroom, family room, or finishing a basement can be costly but can add much value to your home and bring a great return once you sell. One larger renovation that may not be so large in scale yet may make a huge impact is replacing your entry door. A steel door can provide a good return on investment because it increases security and energy efficiency.

But BEWARE! Jumping head first into an expensive project for the sole purpose of selling a property isn't always the best investment. A realtor like myself can help you determine your home's value before and after a renovation.
