Preparing Your Home To Sell

Putting your home up for sale is a big decision and can be a lot of work. To aid in a speedy sale and for top dollar here are some tips to give you the edge.

  • Clean, clean, clean! Make sure your home looks and smells fresh. Avoid using strong scented cleaners and bleach.
  • Clean the bathroom again! This of all rooms should be spotless. Remove bath toys and toiletries from sight.
  • Remove all clutter from the floors and walls including bookcases and closets.
  • Organize your pantry, cabinets and fridge, line or clean the shelves.
  • If you have children leave just a few of their favorite toys out along with some books and be sure their beds are made every day.
  • Be sure to have good curb appeal as this is a buyer's first impression. Keep your lawn manicured and use bright colored potted plants to add color and texture.
  • Take it with you. When you leave the house for a showing take out the trash. If the kids or even your furry kids have toys around the house gather everything in a basket and put it in your car.
These small changes and chores can make a big difference when selling your home. Of course, you also need to be prepared to allow buyers to see your home when they request to see it.
