THE ROCKY RUN YMCA HELD ITS ANNUAL WINE & BEER TASTING EVENT TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE Y’S ANNUAL CAMPAIGN

The Rocky Run Y celebrated and honored local individuals and organizations that have positively impacted youth, adults & families in the local community

[Media, PA] November 25 – On Friday, November 15, 2013, the Rocky Run YMCA hosted its Annual Beer & Wine Tasting Event.  The special event took place at the Penn Oaks Country Club in West Chester, PA from 6:30-10:00 PM.  Dr. Cirigliano, medical correspondent for FOX29’s Good Day Philadelphia, was the emcee for this year’s event. More than 200 community members helped Y staff and volunteers raise over $50,000 for the Rocky Run Y’s Annual Campaign, which provides more opportunities for youth, adults and families to access the Ys programs and services.

At this year’s Annual Wine Tasting Event, the Y recognized and celebrated the efforts and contributions made by Ed Chambers, the receipient of the Community Service Award, and Wawa Corporation, the receipient of the Corporate Community Service Award. Ed Chambers, a board member for over 14 years, was instrumental in bringing the Rocky Run Y to life. Chambers ideas and commitment to the Rocky Run Y has never waivered. Wawa, as a company, has been with the Rocky Run Y every step of the way for the last several  years. As the first donor of the Y’s Capital Campaign, Wawa has continuesly provided food and beverages to countless Y functions. John Poplawski received the Corporate Community Service award on behalf of Wawa.

With the help of Ed Chambers, Wawa and many more donors, the Rocky Run Y will be able to provide financial assistance to one-in-four members. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the local community.
