Nicholas Tassone, 22, was driving a red Nissan 350Z southbound on Route 352 at a high rate of speed at approximately 5:36 p.m. on May 21, according to

While negotiating a curve to the right of the vehicle Tassone began to lose control or slide to the right, according to State Police. The vehicle crossed the right lane and struck the curb.

Tassone over-corrected and continued to skid, according to State Police, and the vehicle crossed the center turning lane and two northbound lanes.

The vehicle left the roadway and struck an embankment at S. New Middletown Road, according to State Police.

The vehicle then went airborne and struck a pine tree approximately 18 feet in the air before hitting the ground nose first about 120 feet from where the vehicle launched, according to State Police. The vehicle bounced and landed on its roof.

Tassone was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extracted from it by the fire department.

The passenger of the vehicle, Brian Turnbull, 20, of Drexel Hill, was able to get out of the vehicle with assistance, according to State Police.

Tassone was unresponsive at the scene and both men were transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center, according to State Police.

Tassone was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The investigation continues.
