$500,000 Bail For Media Man Involved In Broomall Shooting

BROOMALL–Matthew Cook, the was arraigned at 2 p.m. before Magisterial District Judge Leon Hunter on Monday.

Hunter set Cook's bail at $500,000 with no 10 percent cash option. Cook was unable to post bail Monday, according to court documents.

Cook, a resident of Media, was arrested on Sunday night after shooting off a stolen handgun at the doorstep of his former girlfriend's home on Dorman Avenue in Broomall.

Police were able to find Cook and recover the stolen handgun. Cook was arrested and charged on nine counts: criminal attempt of homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats with the intention to terrorize another, possession of instruments of a crime with intent, prohibitive offensive weapons, firearms not to be carried without a license, and receiving stolen property.

Cook's preliminary hearing scheduled for March 8 before Magisterial District Judge David Lang in has been continued to March 15 at 8:30 a.m. Cook remains behind bars in Delaware County Prison until he is able to post bail.
