Additional Charges Filed in May Shootings

Additional charges have been filed against a Delaware man in connection with shooting a vehicle and residence in Middletown Township. No one was injured during the shootings.

Additional charges have been filed against a Delaware man accused of numerous shootings of houses, businesses, vehicles and signs in Middletown Township, Bethel Township, Concord Township and Chester Heights Borough.

No one was injured during the shootings.

David Frederick Saddler, 57, of Wilmington, Del. is now charged with aggravated assault and simple assault along with the original charges of discharging of a firearm into an occupied structure, firearms not to be carried without a license, criminal mischief and recklessly endangering another person.

Saddler was arrested on Aug. 4 in Delaware and a search warrant of his residence resulted in evidence linking Saddler to a shooting of the vehicle and residence on Mount Alverno Road, according to State Police.

The shootings occurred during the early morning hours between May and early August, according to State Police. On in Middletown Township.

Following Saddler's arrest, a female victim at the Mount Alverno Road residence told police that she knows Saddler from many years ago, according to State Police.

After further investigation State Police allege that Saddler targeted the victim's house.

According to the Delaware County Daily Times, Saddler and the victim knew each other in the 1970s as teenagers and Saddler had told the victim then that he loved her, but she did not feel the same. A few years later, she received a disturbing phone call from him and he came to her home and police were called when he refused to leave, according to the Delco Times.

And five years ago, Saddler contacted the woman again by email, according to the Delco Times.

Saddler is being held in the county prison in lieu of $100,000 cash bail. His preliminary hearing is listed for Oct. 9.

Saddler is currently incarcerated in the State of Delaware.
