Armed Gas Station Robber Caught, Police Say

Media Police arrested and charged a Middletown man in connection with the Easter Sunday robbery.

A Middletown Township man was arrested and charged in connection with an armed robbery on Easter Sunday, Media Police said.

Michael Szegila, 24, was charged with robbery, theft and related offenses in connection with a robbery at the Luk Oil Gas Station, at Baltimore Avenue and Providence Road in Media Borough on March 31, Media Police Chief Marty Wusinich said.

Szegila was arrested at about 5:10 p.m. on April 12 at his residence on Glen Riddle Road in Middletown Township, according to Wusinich.

He was remanded to the George Hill Correctional facility where he remains until his initial hearing, according to Wusinich.

Szegila allegedly waited in the store until other customers left, then approached the teller brandishing a knife, before fleeing the scene, according to Wusinich.

The Media Police Department released surveillance photos and a State Police-Media Barracks sketch of a man suspected in the armed robbery.

State Police assisted members of the Media Police in serving the arrest warrant.
