Blotter: 2 Men Tube Down Creek During Hurricane

The following Middletown and Edgmont township incidents have been supplied by the Pennsylvania State Police-Media Barracks. Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to call police at 484-840-1000. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Disorderly Conduct—Forge Road at Stoney Bank Road in Middletown Township at about 1:32 p.m. on Oct. 29. Two 20-year-old men, of Glen Mills and Lansdowne, were seen tubing on the water at Chester Creek. High winds and heavy rain from Hurricane Sandy had hit the area at that time. Numerous State Troopers and township personnel responded to the area. The men were located and assisted to land. Non-traffic citations were filed against both men in District Court 32-2-49.

Multi-Vehicle Crash—Route 1 near Ridley Creek Road at about 7:23 a.m. on Oct. 25. Seven vehicles were involved in this morning rush hour crash and two of the driver's sustained minor injuries, according to State Police. The seven vehicles were all traveling northbound on Route 1. Upper Providence Police had slowed traffic on Rt. 1 ahead of this crash for a police incident, according to State Police. A 56-year-old Delaware man driving a Kenworth TT and 56-year-old Media man driving a Volvo TT were each traveling too fast for the conditions and crashed into the five other vehicles as traffic slowed, according to State Police. A 55-year-old Media woman and a 49-year-old Media man, each driving separate vehicles, were transported to Riddle Hospital for minor injuries, according to State Police. Multiple vehicles were towed from the scene. The drivers of the Kenworth and Volvo each received citations for driving at unsafe speeds.

Bad Checks—Luongo's Towing in Middletown Township at about 3:39 p.m. on Oct. 23. The victim repaired a Glen Mills man's vehicle in July at his request and was given a check for the amount owed for the work when the man picked up his vehicle, according to State Police. When the victim attempted to cash the check, it bounced on two occasions. The victim attempted to contact the man numerous times with negative results, according to State Police.

Theft from Motor Vehicle—Charter Oak Drive in Edgmont Township between Oct. 22 and 23. Unknown persons entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway and stole a laptop and GPS device, according to State Police.

Theft by Unlawful Taking—Penn State Brandywine Campus between noon and 12:15 p.m. on Oct. 16. Unknown persons stole the victim's laptop while she was inside the women's bathroom, according to State Police.
