Brake Pedal Malfunctions in 1-Car Crash, Cops Say

Also, woman charged in connection with taking $158 worth of items from Kohl's, police say.

The following Middletown and Edgmont township incidents have been supplied by the Pennsylvania State Police-Media Barracks. Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to call police at 484-840-1000. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Retail Theft—Kohl's at Granite Run Mall at about 7:57 p.m. on Jan. 27. A 17-year-old Newtown Square woman was arrested for a retail theft in connection with taking $158 worth of items from the store, according to State Police. A small baggie of marijuana was also found in the center console of the woman's vehicle, according to State Police. Charges were filed in District Court 32-2-48.

False ID to Law Enforcement—Route 352 at Route 452 at about 11:33 a.m. on Jan. 26. A vehicle was stopped after violating Pennsylvania Vehicle Code and the front seat passenger, an Aston man, gave police a fictitious name and was taken into custody, according to State Police.

Paraphernalia Possession—Route 352 at Bonsall Drive in Middletown Township at about 11:33 a.m. on Jan. 26. A Media juvenile was arrested in connection with possession of drug paraphernalia, according to State Police.

Two-Vehicle Crash—Route 3 near Rock Ridge Road in Edgmont Township on Jan 23. A 2002 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 67-year-old West Chester woman, stopped in the lane for a school bus letting children off the bus when it was struck in the rear bumper by a 2007 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 37-year-old Philadelphia woman, according to State Police. The 37-year-old driver sustained minor injuries, according to State Police, and was also cited for driving at an unsafe speed. No one else was injured in the crash.

Retail Theft—Boscov's at Granite Run Mall at about 12:42 p.m. on Jan. 22. A 47-year-old woman was arrested and charged in connection with a retail theft at the store.

One-Vehicle Crash—1000 block of Baltimore Pike at about 2:13 p.m. on Jan. 21. A 19-year-old Chadds Ford man driving an Acura MDX told police he pressed the brake pedal but the brake went straight to the floor, according to State Police. The 19 year old avoided traffic but struck a utility pole and bank sign, according to State Police. The man wore a seat belt and was not injured, according to State Police. Riddle EMS responded to the scene and the Acura was towed from the scene.

Theft—1200 block of Baltimore Pike between 4:45 and 6:15 p.m. on Jan. 20. The victim's wallet was stolen from an unsecured locker, according to State Police.
