Blotter: Driver Drops Phone, Flips Vehicle

The driver in the one-vehicle crash sustained minor injuries.

The following Middletown and Edgmont township incidents have been supplied by the Pennsylvania State Police-Media Barracks. Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to call police at 484-840-1000. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Criminal Mischief—1200 block of Baltimore Pike between Dec. 20-21. Unknown persons scratched the victim's vehicle.

Theft—Things Remembered at Granite Run Mall between Dec. 19 and 20. A sales associate at the store failed to deposit the daily receipts, which were placed in a drawer at the store, according to State Police. Unknown persons removed the daily receipts from the drawer and fled the scene, according to State Police.

1-Vehicle Crash—Route 1 near Route 252 at about 6:18 p.m. on Dec. 18. A Chevrolet Express van, driven by a 23-year-old New Jersey man, was traveling north on Route 1 when the driver attempted to answer his phone but dropped the phone, according to State Police. The driver lost control of the van while attempting to retrieve the phone and struck a guardrail, according to State Police. After striking the guardrail, the van went airborne and landed on the southbound lanes of Route 1 on to the passenger side and slid for about 200 feet before coming to rest, blocking the right lane of Route 1 southbound, according to State Police. The driver sustained minor injuries but was not transported to the hospital. He was charged with driving at an unsafe speed, according to State Police.

Theft by Unlawful Taking—Thomas Chevrolet between Dec. 17-18. Unknown persons removed the cover from the bed of a truck, which had been attached to a vehicle but it was unknown if the tailgate lock had been secured, according to State Police.

Burglary—Glen Riddle Road between 12:35 and 4:45 p.m. on Dec. 12. Unknown persons gained entry into the victim's residence and removed various items, according to State Police.

Identity Theft—Middletown Township on Dec. 6. Unknown persons accessed the victim's American Express account, according to State Police.

Theft—1100 block of Middletown Road between Sept. 28 and Dec. 7. Unknown persons removed jewelry from the residence, according to State Police.
