Blotter: Driver Flees Scene on Foot After Crash

The hit-and-run driver left behind his female passenger who sustained minor injuries in the crash, police say.

The following Middletown and Edgmont township incidents have been supplied by the Pennsylvania State Police-Media Barracks. Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to call police at 484-840-1000. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Hit-And-Run—Baltimore Pike near Valley Road at about 8:31 p.m. on Jan. 14. A Buick Ranier, driven by a 65-year-old Glen Mills woman, was stopped at the intersection for a red traffic signal when a Dodge Neon reared ended the Buick, according to State Police. The driver of the Neon then fled the scene on foot, leaving a 36-year-old female passenger in the vehicle with minor injuries, according to State Police. The driver and passenger of the Buick were not injured.

DUI—Route 452 at Lenni Road at about 3:12 a.m. on Jan. 13. A traffic stop was conducted for violations of the PA vehicle code and the driver, a Media woman, showed signs of impairment and was arrested in connection with driving under the influence of alcohol, according to State Police.

Burglary—1000 block of Beverly Lane in Edgmont Township between Dec. 7 and 11. Unknown persons entered the residence, ripped down the drop ceiling and removed a large amount of copper piping, according to State Police.

Missing Person—Elwyn School between 1 and 10:21 p.m. on Dec. 28. An insulin dependent diabetic and mentally challenged man was missing from the school and school officials were concerned he did not have his insulin with him, according to State Police. An alert was sent and local police, Granite Run Mall security and SEPTA officials were notified. The man returned to the school unharmed and stated that he had taken the train to the 69th Street Terminal, got a haircut, hung out and returned to the school using SEPTA, according to State Police.

Retail Theft—Sears at Granite Run Mall at about 12:24 p.m. on Dec. 24. A 25-year-old Glenolden man wore a pair of boots and concealed a shirt and pants on his person and left the store without paying, according to State Police.
