Blotter: House Burglarized in 'Home Repair' Scam

Here is a list of recent incidents in Middletown and Edgmont townships reported by the . Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to call police at 484-840-1000. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Theft from a Motor Vehicle—Country Village Way between July 30 and 31. Unknown persons removed items from inside the victim's unlocked vehicle, according to State Police.

Retail Theft— at at about 4:10 p.m. on July 30. An unknown, white man removed two bottles of cologne, valued at $146, from the store and fled through the mall and exited near , according to State Police. Boscov's Loss Prevention followed the man outside and confronted him while he was getting in his car, according to State Police. The man handed the cologne bottles back to the loss prevention officer, got in his car and fled, according to State Police. The vehicle was described as a black, Honda Accord with Delaware registration 179122, according to State Police.

Residential Burglary—N. Middletown Road between 3 and 4 p.m. on July 30. Two men offered to do work for the victim and once inside removed items from the residence, according to State Police.

Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition— between 5 and 7 p.m. on July 30. Unknown persons gained entry into the vehicle and removed a rear-view mirror, eyeglasses and a Black and Decker battery pack, all with a total value of about $650, according to State Police. The victim told police he was going through a divorce and believed his wife may have went into the vehicle and taken the items, according to State Police.

DUI—Route 1 at Route 452 at about 11:53 p.m. on July 29. Police conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation and the driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested in connection with driving under the influence of alcohol, according to State Police. 

DUI—Route 352 at Route 1 at about 3:05 a.m. on July 26. A Media man was arrested in connection with driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance, according to State Police.

Two-Vehicle Crash—Route 352 near Pembroke Drive at about 8:05 a.m. on July 24. A Dodge Nitro, driven by a 36-year-old man, was stopped in the right lane for traffic at a red light when a Toyota Celica, driven by a 34-year-old woman, was traveling too fast and could not stop in time, striking the Dodge, according to State Police. No one was injured and the woman driving the Toyota was given a citation for driving at an unsafe speed, according to State Police.
