Blotter: Man Flees Scene Following Crash into Fence

Fleeing from a Crash—N. Ridley Creek and N. Feathering roads at about 9:14 a.m. on Aug. 29. Police were dispatched to the area for a report of a vehicle crash but prior to police arriving the white Acura Legend fled the scene on N. Ridley Creek Road toward Chapel Hill Road after striking a fence, according to police. The Acura headed toward Newtown Square and Newtown Township Police found the vehicle traveling on Troop Farm Road at Guinevere Drive and detained the driver, a 34-year-old Media man, according to police.

The man was arrested and waived his rights and allegedly admitted to driving the Acura that struck and damaged the fence at N. Ridley Creek Road and fled the scene because his license was currently suspended, according to police. A witness to the crash identified the Media man and the Acura, according to police. The man allegedly told police that a black vehicle entered the roadway in front of him and he had to abruptly turn in order to avoid a collision and struck the three-posted wooden fence, causing extensive damage to the fence, according to police.

Through an investigation it was determined that the Media man had an active bench warrant out of Media District Court for several unpaid traffic tickets and several unpaid traffic tickets in Montgomery County, according to police. He received several citations, including driving under a suspended license. The Acura, with front end damage, was towed from the scene.

Vandalism— on Aug. 29. Unknown persons threw all of the patio furniture, including lounge chairs, picnic tables and umbrellas into the pool, according to police. The furniture was removed and police were informed of the incident.

Vehicle Damage—Route 1 near Media Bypass at about 6 a.m. on Aug. 17. The driver of a 1989 Oldsmobile reported to police that a rock from freshly milled roadway shot up and struck his windshield causing the windshield to crack, according to police. The driver contacted PennDOT and was advised to file a police report, according to police.
