Blotter: Nails Intentionally Scattered on Roadway

Here is a list of recent incidents in Upper Providence Township reported by the . Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to call police at 610-566-8445. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Hazardous Conditions—Ridley Creek and Chapel Hill roads at about 2 a.m. on July 26. A large amount of nails were found to be scattered along the roadway and appeared someone intentionally scattered the nails with the intention to puncture tires of passing cars, according to police. It was unknown how long the nails were on the roadway and there were no reports of disabled vehicles, according to police. The nails were removed without incident.

One-Vehicle Crash—Route 252 at N. Ridley Creek at about 7:53 p.m. on July 25. A woman driving a Dodge Caravan struck a deer that appeared in her lane, according to police. No one was injured. The Dodge sustained damage to the passenger side headlamp and fender, according to police. Officers checked the area for the deer but it could not be located.

Medical Emergency— at Media Station Road at about 2:28 p.m. on July 25. was dispatched for a semi-conscious person, according to police. Tague Lumber employees told officials that a man was standing at the counter and passed out, according to police. The man was evaluated but refused to be taken to the hospital, according to police. An officer did follow the man home to his residence.

Theft— on N. Providence Road at about 4:24 p.m. on July 18. Unknown persons stole fender flares from a vehicle sitting in the parking lot for repairs, according to police. The vehicle's owner left his car for repairs and when he returned to pick it up, the four fender flares were missing, according to police. The shop owner told police, he believed they were taken overnight on July 17.

Hazardous Conditions—Rose Tree Road at about 10:23 p.m. on July 16. was dispatched for a gas leak, according to police. A contractor was found to have accidentally struck a gas line but was able to stop the leak, according to police. PECO was notified.
