Formal Arraignment Set For Media Man Involved In Broomall Shooting

BROOMALL–The 24-year-old faces a formal arraignment on April 26.

Matthew Cook, 24, of Media, was arrested on Feb. 26 for shooting off a stolen handgun at the doorstep of his former girlfriend's home on Dorman Avenue in Broomall.

Both and responded to the scene in search of Cook, who had fled the scene after a neighbor, registered with their own handgun, approached Cook to release his 9mm Ruger.

Cook was arrested and faces nine charges: criminal attempt of homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats with the intention to terrorize another, possession of instruments of a crime with intent, prohibitive offensive weapons, firearms not to be carried without a license, and receiving stolen property.

. Cook was unable to post bail, according to court documents.

Cook's preliminary hearings started on March 8 and were continued through March 29 before Magisterial District Judge David Lang. Cook is currently withheld at Delaware County Prison. He is represented by defense attorney Nora Blair Burgess Beatty of Media.
