Gun, Handcuffs, Meds Found Inside Vehicle, Police Say

Also, two registration plates were stolen from vehicles in separate incidents, police say.

The following Middletown and Edgmont township incidents have been supplied by the Pennsylvania State Police-Media Barracks. Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to call police at 484-840-1000. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Theft by Unlawful Taking—200 block of Hunter Street at about 8:45 a.m. on Feb. 6. Unknown persons stole the victim's Pennsylvania registration plate off the victim's vehicle, according to State Police.

One-Vehicle Crash—Providence Road near Roscommon Drive in Edgmont Township at about 5:13 p.m. on Feb. 5. A 21-year-old Newtown Square man, driving a Honda Accord, failed to negotiate a right curve in the road and struck a tree, according to State Police. The man sustained minor injuries and was cited for driving at an unsafe speed, according to State Police.

Two-Vehicle Crash—Baltimore Pike at the entrance to Thomas Chevrolet at about 8:55 a.m. on Feb. 5. A Mazda, driven by a 72-year-old Boothwyn man, attempted to make a left turn into the car dealership but there was not enough clearance, according to State Police. A Dodge, driven by a 47-year-old man, was traveling south on Baltimore Pike and struck the Mazda on the passenger side, according to State Police. The Dodge then crossed the raised median and came to rest in the northbound lanes, according to State Police. Both drivers sustained injuries and the driver of the Mazda received a traffic citation, according to State Police.

DUI/Act 64—Route 352 at Arasapha Farms at about 12:48 p.m. on Feb. 1. Police received a call of a suspicious vehicle and when police arrived a 41-year-old Clifton Heights man was found inside the vehicle, allegedly under the influence of a controlled substance, according to State Police. A further investigation revealed that the man was carrying a loaded .40 caliber handgun on his waist and a concealed carry "badge" around his neck, according to State Police. He also had a pair of handcuffs and a key and in plain view was a bottle of Hydrocodone which was not prescribed to him, according to State Police. The man was arrested in connection with DUI and possession of a controlled substance.

Theft—Dobson Court between Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. A registration plate was stolen from a vehicle, according to State Police.

Our founding fathers made sure that we had the liberty to carry a gun on our laps, and have a fake badge, and handcuffs, and hydrocodone....if we the cops are gonna hassle us for this, the terrorists, led by that Obama, have already won!
