Homes Evacuated During Gas Leak

Officials responded to a gas leak at an Upper Providence Township home earlier this month.

Fire, police and PECO crews responded to an Upper Providence Township home for a report of a gas leak on May 8.

Crews responded to the 2200 block of E. Deerfield Drive at about 3:50 p.m. and PECO reported that they had tracked a gas leak from Cove Lane to the Deerfield Drive property, according to Upper Providence Township Police.

Crews forced entry into the residence, nearby homes were evacuated and the roadway was closed to traffic, according to police.

Gas was found leaking from an outside tank adjacent to the house, according to police.

The leak was fixed without incident.

The house was vented and secured and nearby residents were allowed to return to their homes, according to police.
