Judge Doesn't Accept Czukoski's Guilty Plea

On Thursday, a federal judge said he sensed 'hesitation' in the former Springton Lake principal authorities say possessed child pornography, and continued the hearing.

Troy Czukoski will get some time to reconsider his guilty plea after a federal judge surprisingly continued his hearing on Thursday, Delaware County Daily Times is reporting.

Czukoski, the former Springton Lake Middle School principal who was charged with possession of child pornography in March after an investigation by the U.S. Postal Service, attempted to plead guilty, but U.S. District Judge Legrome Davis refused to accept it, according to the paper.

According to the Delco Times, Czukoski said in court, “It is my choice to plead guilty in this matter. The government believes I was in possession of some videos …” and he acknowledged that he was pleading guilty to “avoid stricter charges that might bring greater consequences.”

The judge said he sensed “hesitation” in the educator and suggested further conversations needed to occur before he accepted the plea. The judge added that Czukoski should also consider a jury trial.

A subsequent hearing date has not yet been scheduled. Read the full story here.
