Man Involved in Middletown Burglary, Police Pursuit Held on $500,000 Bail

A man was held on $500,000 cash bail following a burglary, police pursuit and car crash in Middletown on Tuesday.

A Norwood man is being held in Delaware County Prison in lieu of $500,000 cash bail following a , according to court documents.

Keith Kilpatrick, 23, was charged with burglary, conspiracy, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, recklessly endangering another person, fleeing police, reckless driving and exceeding the max speed limit, along with other related offenses, according to court documents.

The charges stem from a burglary on Mystic Lane in Middletown at about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday when State Police say the victim found Kilpatrick in her garage and confronted him.

The victim chased Kilpatrick down the driveway but he got into a silver Ford Escort where Brittany Kerr, 22, of Folcroft, was in the passenger seat, according State Police.

The vehicle drove off but the victim was able to give police a description of the vehicle and its registration.

A police pursuit ensued and the , according to State Police.

Kilpatrick fled the crash scene on foot but was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit, according to State Police.

Kerr had to be extricated from the car by fire officials and sustained serious injuries, according to State Police. She is currently hospitalized and charges against her are pending, according to the Delaware County Daily Times.

A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Walter Strohl is scheduled for April 17.

According to the Times, both Kerr and Kilpatrick were already facing drug charges.
