Man Robs Gas Station at Knifepoint, Police Say

Police release surveillance photos and a sketch of a man suspected in an armed robbery.

The Media Police Department released surveillance photos and a sketch of a man suspected in an armed robbery recently.

The Luk Oil Gas Station, at Baltimore Avenue and Providence Road in Media Borough, was robbed at knifepoint at about 7 p.m. on March 31, according to Media Police Chief Marty Wusinich.

The robber waited in the store until other customers left, then approached the teller brandishing a knife in his left hand, according to Wusinich.

The robber fled the store and got into a white Honda, which was parked at Starbucks, and possibly driven by a white or Asian woman, according to Wusinich. The Honda fled westbound on Baltimore Avenue toward Middletown Township, according to Wusinich.

The Luk Oil robber is described as a skinny white man, between 6 foot and 6 foot 2 inches tall, who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants with side cargo pockets and had a handkerchief or scarf covering his mouth, Wusinich said.

An investigation revealed that the man had allegedly cased the Getty Gas Station, also on Baltimore Avenue, without covering his face, prior to the Luk Oil robbery, Wusinich said.

A Getty employee also described the person he'd seen as a white man, in his early- to- mid 20s, between 6 foot and 6 foot 2 inches tall, with light facial hair (mustache and beard), a gaunt face, black earring studs, and a wound on the back of one of his hands (possibly a burn mark), who was wearing gray sweatpants, according to Wusinich.

The vehicle observed by the Getty employee was described as a white two-door Honda Accord with a sun roof, according to Wusinich, and the driver appeared to possibly be a short Asian woman with a chubby face.
