Media Home Struck by Kitchen Fire

No one was injured.

There was a kitchen fire in a ranch home on 73 War Admiral Lane in Media this afternoon. Though there was damage to the kitchen itself and the rear of the home, no one was injured.

Dick Smith, the homeowner, told Patch he was soldering a connection in the kitchen July 28 sometime after 2:30 p.m. when he inadvertently started the blaze. Smith said Lima Volunteer Fire Department personnel arrived approximately five minutes after the fire began and contained and extinguished it quickly. Smith characterized their work as "outstanding."

Though the damage was relatively minor, fire personnel shut off electrical power and water to the home, and Smith and his family will be staying with neighbors until the situation is resolved.
