Hometown: Media

Rank/Title: Chief

How long have you been with the Media Police Department?

33 years and 26 years as chief

What do you like about your job?

I like helping those who are in need of help and I enjoy protecting those who can't protect themselves.

What do you dislike about your job?

The hours, it's non-stop.

What inspired you to become a police officer?

My brother who is closest in age to me was a police officer when I was in college. I was taking business courses and didn't really like it and my brother suggested I take a criminal justice elective. I got a bite of the apple and enjoyed it. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Adminstration of Justice from what is now called Penn State Brandywine and worked as an officer while I was in the Police Academy, which you can't do now.

What do you like about the greater Media area?

I've been here long enough to see how it's transformed into the showcase of Delaware County. When I first started it was nowhere near what it is today.

Wusinich referenced a 1979 Delaware County Daily Times article hanging in his office that ranked Media fourth among the highest serious crime rates in the state, beating out Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. (See the attached photo of the article).

What do you want the general public to know about the Media Police Departmet?

Never hestiate to call 911. Even if you think it's not important, your instinct is probably correct. If it's nothing, then great, but we'd rather know about it.
