Nails Intentionally Placed in Car Tires, Police Say

Also, a picture window was smashed with a rock in a separate incident, police say.

Here is a recent incident in Upper Providence Township reported by the Upper Providence Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Criminal Mischief—400 block of Manchester Avenue at about 1:35 p.m. on March 9. The outer glass to a front picture window had been smashed by a rock, according to the report. The resident told police her daughter heard a noise around 2 a.m. and went downstairs to investigate but found nothing and returned to bed, according to the report. The shattered window was noticed in the morning. The estimated value was about $1,000, according to the report.

Criminal Mischief—Unit block of Calabrese Drive at about 8:42 a.m. on March 13. The victim parked her vehicle in her driveway the night prior and when she returned to it in the morning, the vehicle indicated she had low tire pressure, according to the report. The woman examined the tires and saw what appeared to be a screw nail in her tire, according to the report. The woman drove to police headquarters were police confirmed it was a screw nail embedded in the side wall of the tire, which would most likely indicate an intentional act, according to the report. The woman spoke with neighbors who told her they had had similar problems with their vehicles as well, according to the report.

Traffic Accident—800 block of Manchester Avenue at about 5:20 p.m. on March 19. The victim discovered damage to her vehicle after work, according to the report. The damage to the vehicle, which had been parked, was to the driver side rear tire area, according to the report. The damage appeared to have been caused by another vehicle attempting to park or exit the parking stall but the second vehicle was no longer on location and had not left any contact information, according to the report. The damage was heavy scratching and would have been noticed, according to the report.
