No Details on Federal Investigation of Springton Lake Principal

Springton Lake Middle School Principal Dr. Troy Czukoski was placed on administrative leave Thursday due to a federal investigation, according Rose Tree Media School District Superintendent Jim Wigo.

Czukoski has not been charged with a crime.

Wigo told Media Patch Friday afternoon that the district was notified Thursday that Czukoski was under investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and Postal Service but they were not made aware of any details as to the investigation.

"The nature of the investigation was not made public to us," Wigo said.

He said a search warrant was conducted at Czukoski's home but the warrant was sealed and not made public.

Czukoski’s lawyer, Joseph Green Jr., told the Delaware County Daily Times that Czukoski has not committed any crime or abused his position as principal.

"He (Czukoski) is looking forward to vindicating his good name in whatever proceedings might come," Green told the Delco Times.

Wigo said until more details are made available to the district, Czukoski is on administrative leave and Springton Lake's two assistant principals will handle the school temporarily.

"It's too early to say (what's next) because we don't know the nature of the investigation," Wigo said.

A Springton Lake parent told the Delco Times she was, "shocked" and "surprised" by the news.

Wigo and the Rose Tree Media School District released the following statement on the matter late Friday afternoon:

Jim Wigo, the Superintendent of Schools of the Rose Tree Media School District informed district staff and all district parents that he had been contacted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Postal Service Inspector about an ongoing investigation involving Dr. Troy Czukoski, Principal at Springton Lake Middle School.

As a result of this investigation, Dr. Czykoski has been placed on leave from his position as Principal of Springton Lake Middle School.

To date, this is all of the information that has been provided for us. As further credible information becomes available we will release the information to the parents and staff.

We have no reason to believe that the safety of our students or staff has ever been compromised. All communication will be conveyed through the office of the Superintendent.
