Over $10K in Jewelry and an Urn Taken in 3 Burglaries

Editor's Note: Below are a list of recent incidents in Upper Providence Township reported by the Upper Providence Police Department. Three, similar burglaries occurred in Upper Providence Township on the same day, according to Upper Providence Police.

Unknown persons kicked in the front door of a home on the 3100 block of Providence Road sometime between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 13, according to police.

A jewelry box and two antique watches were removed from the master bedroom, according to police. The front door's lower wooden panel and the door jam had been damaged.

Also on Feb. 13, some time between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m., on the 2900 block of Providence Road residents arrived home and found their rear garage door kicked in, according to police.

The victims told police their son was at the home around 3 p.m. to let the dogs out and had not noticed anything out of place inside the home.

Jewelry and a change jug were missing from the master bedroom, according to police.

The jewelry was valued at more than $10,000, including one specific ring, valued at $6,000, according to police, the ring had a diamond emblem on it that resembled a Nike symbol.

Several dresser drawers and a large hutch had been opened and a pillowcase was missing from the bedding, according to police.

An engraved, brass urn with the ashes of the victim's parents inside was taken from a living room mantle and an Xbox was also taken, according to police.

Police found a muddy footprint on the garage door and damage to the door frame.

Then a Yarmouth Lane home near Providence Road, police responded to a report of a burglary on Feb. 14 but believe the incident happened on Feb. 13.

The Yarmouth resident left the house between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 13 and failed to fully shut and lock the back door, according to police.

When the 84-year-old woman arrived home she discovered a boot print on her white carpet with grass and dirt residue but had assumed her son had been in the house and she cleaned the mess, according to police. The woman also noticed a closed door that is normally open and a carpet slightly crumpled but thought it had been her son.

The next day the woman realized two gold wedding rings were missing from a jewelry box along with other pieces of jewelry and a $1,693 set of pearls, according to police.
