Purchases Made, Account Opened in Identity Thefts, Police Say

A Middletown Township resident's social security number was used to open a fraudulent PECO account, police say.

Recent identity theft and fraud incidents were investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police-Media Barracks. 

On Sept. 3, unknown persons obtained the credit card information of a resident at Brick House Farm Lane in Edgmont Township, according to State Police, and multiple purchases were made at CVS and Wawa. 

Between Aug. 30 and Sept. 3, unknown persons gained access to an Old House Lane resident's personal information and used it to complete several transactions, according to State Police. 

Between May 3 and July 29, unknown persons used a Barren Road resident's social security number to open a PECO account at an address in Philadelphia, according to State Police.
