Feds Investigate Springton Lake Principal

Springton Lake MS Principal Dr. Troy Czukoski was placed on administrative leave Thursday due to a federal investigation. The district does not know the nature of the investigation, Superintendent James Wigo says.

Springton Lake Middle School Principal Dr. Troy Czukoski was placed on administrative leave Thursday due to a federal investigation, according Rose Tree Media School District Superintendent James Wigo.

Rose Tree Media School District parents were notified Thursday night in a phone message that Czukoski is being investigated and district officials do not believe the safety of students or staff was ever in question.

Wigo told Media Patch Friday afternoon that the district was notified Thursday that Czukoski was under investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and Postal Service but they were not made aware of any details as to the investigation.

"The nature of the investigation was not made public to us," Wigo said.

He said a search warrant was conducted at Czukoski's home but the warrant was sealed and not made public.

Wigo said until more details are made available to the district Czukoski is on administrative leave and Springton Lake's two assistant principals will handle the school temporarily.

"It's too early to say (what's next) because we don't know the nature of the investigation," Wigo said.

This is Czukoski's first year in the RTM School District, although he has been in the education industry for 20 plus years.

Prior to Springton Lake, he was in Phoenixville School District where he was a middle school principal for seven years and then moved up to their district office. He was hired as Springton Lake principal in July.

Czukoski lives in Chester County with his wife and three children.

On Friday morning, Phoenixville Area School District Superintendent Alan Fegley sent a letter to parents letting them know that the district is aware of the investigation. Fegley said the district doesn’t have any information on the specific allegations, but will cooperate fully if contacted by authorities.
