State Police: 2 Face Charges of Burglary Following Middletown Police Pursuit

Two people were arrested and face charges following a burglary that lead to a Tuesday, according to .

Keith Kilpatrick, 23, of Norwood, and Brittany Kerr, 22, of Folcroft, face charges of burglary and related offenses, according to State Police. Kilpatrick will have additional charges related to the pursuit and car crash, according to State Police.

Police said Kilpatrick entered a garage on Mystic Lane in Middletown at about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday and was confronted by the victim as he removed the victim's property from the garage, according to State Police.

The victim chased Kilpatrick down the driveway but Kilpatrick got into a silver Ford Escort where Kerr was in the passenger seat, according State Police.

The vehicle drove off but the victim called police and was able to give a description of the vehicle and its registration.

State Troopers on patrol saw the suspect's Escort on Route 1 and Granite Drive and tried to stop it but the Escort fled onto Route 352 southbound at a high rate of speed, according to State Police.

The Escort continued to drive recklessly until it crashed into two other vehicles at the intersection of Rt. 352 and Knowlton Road, according to State Police.

Kilpatrick fled the crash scene on foot but was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit, according to State Police.

Kerr had to be extricated from the Escort by fire officials and sustained serious injuries, according to State Police.

The occupants of the two other vehicles sustained minor injuries and the vehicles were towed from the scene, according to State Police.

Rt. 352 and Knowlton Road was shut down to traffic for about an hour.

The investigation is ongoing.
