State Police Blotter: 2 Separate Hit-And-Run Crashes Leave Cars Damaged

Here is a list of recent incidents in Middletown and Edgmont townships reported by the . Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to call police at 484-840-1000. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Theft by Unlawful Taking—Highpoint Drive between Jan. 2 and 3. A 28-year-old Media man removed a cell phone and tablet computer belonging to the victims, State Police said. The items were located and returned by the man's ex-girlfriend, State Police said. The total value of the items was about $900, State Police said.

Hit-and-Run Crash—Gradyville and Providence roads at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Dec. 29. An unknown vehicle ran through a stop sign and struck a Honda Accord and then fled the scene, State Police said. No one was injuried and the Accord sustained minor damage on the left side passenger door, State Police said.

Retail Theft— at the Granite Run Mall at approximately 6 p.m. on Dec. 29. A 16-year-old woman from Marcus Hook and a 19-year-old woman from Linwood attempted to leave the store without paying for merchandise valued at $138, State Police said. Both women were arrested, possessed and released.

Two-Vehicle Crash—N. Middletown Road in Edgmont Township at approximately 2:46 p.m. on Dec. 28. An 83-year-old Newtown Square woman driving a Chrysler Cirrus pulled onto the right shoulder and partially into a driveway in an attempt to make a U-turn and then began to make the U-turn in front of an 18-year-old woman driving a Saturn SC1 and struck the Cirrus on its driver side rear, State Police said. The 18-year-old driver and a passenger in the Saturn sustained injuries and were transported to Riddle Hospital, State Police said. The other driver was not injuried. The Cirrus sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene but the Saturn sustained major damage and was towed from the scene, State Police said. The 83-year-old driver was charged with a traffic violation.

Hit-and-Run Crash—W. Baltimore Pike near Media Bypass at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 28. A Ford Contour was attempting to enter the Media Bypass from Baltimore Pike when it crashed with an unknown vehicle, State Police said. The unknown vehicle fled the scene and the Contour stopped, State Police said. The Contour sustained damage to its driver side mirror and front quarter panel, State Police said, and no one was injuried.

Theft by Unlawful Taking—N. Middletown Road between Dec. 26 and 27. Unknown persons took several items, including several car parts, from the victim's driveway, State Police said.

Theft by Unlawful Taking— at approximately 10 a.m. on Dec. 22. A 19-year-old Norristown woman removed jewelry and money from the victim's residence without permission, State Police said, and numerous occurrences had been documented. Charges will be filed in District Court 32-2-48.

Burglary—Gradyville Road in Edgmont Township between Dec. 21 and 28. Unknown persons entered the residence through an unlocked door and removed a white Apple MacBook laptop from the living room area, State Police said. The persons then removed a small box filled with various items of jewelry, State Police said. An investigation continues.

Retail Theft— at Granite Run Mall between 2 and 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 15. An unknown black man stole $1,922 worth of perfume and fled the store without paying, State Police said. The crime was not reported until one week later, State Police said.
