State Police Blotter: 2 Vacuums Stolen; Man Falls Asleep at Traffic Light

Here is a list of recent incidents in Middletown and Edgmont townships reported by the . Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to call police at 484-840-1000. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

One Car Crash—Route 452 at Dobson Court at approximately 5:20 p.m. on July 18. A Dodge Stratus was traveling north on Rt. 452 when another vehicle traveling southbound crossed into the northbound lane and caused the Stratus to attempt to avoid a crash, State Police said. This resulted in the Stratus crashing into a curb twice and disabling the vehicle, State Police said. The vehicle that swerved into the opposite lane is described as a red Chevrolet Lumina, State Police said.

DUI/Controlled Substance—Route 1 and Route 452 at approximately 4:30 p.m. on July 16. Kevin Richard Ware, 27, of Havertown, was taken into custody in connection with DUI and drug possession, State Police said. Police conducted a traffic stop and during the stop determined Ware was under the influence of a controlled substance, State Police said. Also, on the front seat of the vehicle were numerous illegal narcotics, State Police said.

Theft from Motor Vehicle—Meadowbrook Lane between July 14 and 15. Unknown persons gained entry though an open truck rear window and stole a Teletype O GPS and an unknown amount of cash from the center console area, State Police said.

Theft by Unlawful Taking—Valley Road between July 13 and 14. Unknown persons stole a Craftsman GT 5000 lawn tractor while it was parked at the location, State Police said.

Retail Theft—Boscov’s at Granite Run Mall at approximately 3:45 p.m. on July 12. Wanda Dolly Starling, 46, of Delaware County, entered the store and took three bottles of cologne valued at $230, State Police said. Starling was arrested and transported to State Police-Media Barracks for processing, State Police said.

Retail Theft—Kohl’s at the Granite Run Mall at approximately 2 p.m. on July 12. An unknown person walked into the store and stole two vacuum cleaners, State Police said.

Hit and Run Crash—Baltimore Pike and Valley Road at approximately 7:58 a.m. on July 12. A possible gold Nissan Murano struck another vehicle in the far right lane on Baltimore Pike and then fled the scene northbound, State Police said. The driver of the possible Murano was a male approximately 60 years old, State Police said.

Retail Theft—Sears at Granite Run Mall at approximately 5:50 p.m. on July 11. Two 16-year-old females from Aston removed multiple items of merchandise valued at $92.46 from the store without paying, State Police said.

Burglary—Edgmont Country Club between 1 and 9 a.m. on July 10. Unknown persons gained entry into a large sliding window that was not secured due to a piece of wood that was not in the track of the window, State Police said. Once inside, the persons went into the bar area and pried open the register but there was nothing inside, State Police said, they fled the scene with nothing. Muddy shoe impressions and what appeared to be fingerprints were left at the scene, State Police said.

Burglary—St. Sharbel Church in Edgmont Township between July 10 and 12. Unknown persons removed the box where the church donations were kept, State Police said. There was no information on the possible amount of money stolen and the case remains under investigation.

DUI—Route 1 southbound near Granite Run Mall/McDonald’s entrance at approximately 5:30 a.m. on July 9. Joseph Fricker Jr., 20, of Glen Mills, was driving and fell asleep at the traffic light at the mall entrance, State Police said. He slept through one full green light, State Police said. Fricker attempted to perform standardized field sobriety tests and failed to complete them, State Polcie said. He was taken into custody and was also found to be in possession of a small amount of suspected marijuana, State Police said.

Retail Theft—Kohl’s at Granite Run Mall at approximately 2:40 p.m. on July 8. Three juvenile females from Chester took several articles of clothing from the store and concealed the clothes in a bag and exited the store, State Police said. The total value of the items was $391, State Police said. The juveniles were cited and released to their parents, State Police said. 

Retail Theft—Sears at Granite Run Mall at approximately 9 p.m. on July 8. A 21-year-old and a 19-year-old woman, both of Springfield, were charged in connection with taking health and beauty aids worth $27 and $60.98 respectively, State Police said. The two attempted to leave the store with the merchandise when they were stopped by loss prevention officers, State Police said.

Burglary—Farmers Lane in Edgmont Township between July 5 and 12. Unknown persons took a LG 50 inch flat screen TV, the flat screen TV mount and small hand tools from the residence, State Police said.

Residential Burglary—Meadowcroft Lane between June 28 and July 18. Unknown persons kicked in a side door to the residence and proceeded to take about $3,000 to $4,000 worth of jewelry and money, State Police said. The victims discovered the burglary upon arriving home from vacation, State Police said.
