State Police Blotter: Brake Failure Causes One-Car Crash

Here is a list of recent incidents in Middletown and Edgmont townships reported by the . Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to call police at 484-840-1000. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Retail Theft—Sears at Granite Run Mall at approximately 9:41 p.m. on Sept. 3. Two 20 year olds from Philadelphia took several articles of clothing and jewelry from the store, State Police said. They concealed the items in a bag and exited the store, State Police said.

Criminal Mischief—Potter Court between Sept. 3 and 4. An unknown person scratched the victim’s vehicle with an unknown item, State Police said.

Three-Car Crash—Route 352 near Green Lane in Edgmont Township at approximately 10:26 a.m. on Sept. 2. An 18-year-old man driving a Ford Mustang was traveling south on Rt. 352 at an estimated speed of 45 mph and suddenly rear ended a 91-year-old man driving a Dodge Caravan south on Rt. 352 at approximately 5 mph, State Police said. The Caravan then rear ended a 55-year-old woman driving a Ford Trans, which was coming to a complete stop to negotiate a legal left turn on Green Lane from Rt. 352, State Police said. The 55-year-old driver complained of minor neck injuries but refused transportation to the hospital, State Police said. The other two drivers were not injured. The Mustang sustained moderate damage on the front end and was towed from the scene, State Police said. The Caravan sustained minor damage on the front and rear ends but was driven from the scene and the Trans sustained minor rear end damage and was driven from the scene, State Police said. The driver of the Mustang was cited for traffic violations.

Drug Possession—Glen Riddle Station Apartments parking lot at approximately 6:05 p.m. on Sept. 2. Police were dispatched to the area for a report of an intoxicated man stumbling around, State Police said. When they arrived they found a 42-year-old Aston man who appeared disoriented, State Police said. Upon searching the man a small glass vial with yellowish/clear liquid, suspected PCP, was found in his right sock, State Police said. The man was transported to Riddle Memorial Hospital for treatment and drug charges are pending.

Theft—Body Central at Granite Run Mall between Aug. 29 and 30. State Police are investigating the theft of $1,225.98 of currency from the store.

Criminal Mischief—Granite Run Mall parking lot between 6 and 9:50 p.m. on Aug. 29. Unknown persons damaged the victim’s vehicle and fled the scene, State Police said.

One-Car Crash—Parking lot near Convent and Hollow Hill roads at approximately 4:10 p.m. on Aug. 25. A 23-year-old woman, from Nottingham, PA, was driving a 1996 Ford Taurus heading downhill on Convent Road and experienced brake system failure, State Police said. The Taurus traveled west through the intersection and entered a parking lot. It traveled through the parking lot and struck a large pile of boulders on the other side of the parking lot and came to a final rest on top of the boulders, State Police said. The Taurus sustained moderate damage to its front and undercarriage and was towed from the scene, State Police said. The woman sustained minor injury to her wrist but refused EMS treatment on the scene.
