State Police Blotter: Drunken Man Drives to Police Station to Pick Up Woman Arrested for DUI

Here is a list of recent incidents in Middletown and Edgmont townships reported by the . Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to call police at 484-840-1000. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

One-Car Crash—Baltimore Pike near the Route 1 bypass at about 3:36 p.m. on Jan. 17. A 20-year-old man driving a 2001 Ford Taurus was traveling around a curve and lost control of the vehicle, State Police said. The Taurus traveled from the left lane across to the right lane, struck the embankment, traveled up the embankment and spun counter clockwise and landed on the roof, back on the shoulder of the road, facing the wrong way, State Police said. No one was injured and the driver did receive a traffic citation, State Police said.

One-Car Crash—Old Forge Road near Darlington Road at about 12:08 a.m. on Jan. 17. An 18-year-old man driving a 2006 Subaru Impreza encountered an icy patch of roadway and slid counter-clockwise and rolled the vehicle over on its passenger side, State Police said. The man was trapped in his vehicle when police arrived and was assisted in escaping through the driver side door, State Police said. He was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured, State Police said.

DUI—Route 1 and 352 at about 1:12 a.m. on Jan. 16. A Media man was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, State Police said.

DUI—State Police-Media Barracks at approximately 3:45 a.m. on Jan. 15. A Wilmington, Del. man arrived at the Media Barracks and said he was there to pick up a woman who had been arrested for DUI, State Police said. Troopers detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and person and the man admitted to driving from Delaware to the Media Barracks, State Police said. It was believed that he was incapable of driving safely and the man was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance, State Police said.

Retail Theft/Drug Possession— at the Granite Run Mall at about 11:25 a.m. on Jan. 11. A 23-year-old Media man allegedly stole a Leatherman multi-tool valued at $50, State Police said. A search of the man also found three individually packaged Suboxone sublingal films and he did not have a valid prescription for the Suboxone, State Police said. Edward M. Klodarska, 23, was arrested and charges were filed in District Court 32-2-48.

Minor Car Crash—Route 352 near Knowlton Road at about 6:40 a.m. on Jan. 11. A Jeep Liberty was stopped at a red light as a Jeep Cherokee was approaching the intersection and the driver was distracted by attempting to pick something up off the floor of the car, State Police said. As the driver did this, the Cherokee struck the Liberty and then struck the guardrail and became disabled on the shoulder of the road, State Police said. No one was injured.

Aggravated Assault—Barren Road at about 2:34 p.m. on Jan. 10. An 18-year-old Media man allegedly threw a rock from a moving vehicle which struck two victims, State Police said. The 18-year-old man was arrested for aggravated assault and a preliminary hearing is scheduled in District Court 32-2-48.

One-Car Crash—Exit road of near Route 352 at about 3:50 p.m. on Jan. 8. A 34-year-old woman driving a 2000 Mitsubshi Galant was making a left turn to exit the mall on to Rt. 352 when she hit the gas pedal too hard after a stop sign, State Police said. The woman took the turn too wide and ran up onto the median, striking the curb, which deflated the driver side front tire, State Police said. The Galant then struck a tree on the median and came to a rest on the opposite side of the median, State Police said. The driver and passenger were unjuried.
