State Police Blotter: DUI Charge After Hit and Run; Copper Pipes Stolen

Unauthorized Use of Vehicle–Paul Lane at approximately 8 a.m. on Feb. 28. A 29-year-old Upland man took his estranged wife’s Nissan Rogue, State Police said, without her permission. The man crashed the vehicle in another township and was arrested there, State Police said, but the victim also wanted State Police to prosecute the man.

Control Substance–Route 1 near State Farm Drive at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Feb. 27. A black GMC Envoy was stopped for a violation of Pennsylvania vehicle code, State Police said. The driver, a 20-year-old Glen Mills man, gave consent to search the vehicle and marijuana and paraphernalia were found, State Police said. 

Harassment–Trattoria Giuseppe Restaurant on West Chester Pike in Edgmont at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 26. State Police said Joseph Rusek, 51, of Broomall, struck the victim in her side with an open hand. Charges were filed in District Court 32-2-43.

Retail Theft–Boscov’s Store on Baltimore Pike at approximately 9:35 p.m. on Feb. 26. An unknown person attempted to leave the store without paying for merchandise, State Police said. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction once approached by the Loss Prevention Officer, State Police said. The investigation continues.

Burglary–Sleighton School property on Valley Road at approximately 2:52 p.m. on Feb. 25. Robert Thomas Weinman, 26, of Glen Mills, and Michael Anthony Minchella, 23, of Langhorne, were charged with trying to steal cooper from one of the buildings, State Police said. Weinman and Minchella had their vehicles parked near the building and were attempting to steal copper pipes and a couple of hot water heaters, State Police said. They were taken into custody without incident and charges were filed in District Court 32-2-48.

DUI–Route 352 near Yearsley Mill Road at approximately 7:40 a.m. on Feb. 25. Jeffrey Walker, 23, of Philadelphia, was charged with driving under the influence, State Police said. A gold Buick Century was involved in a hit and run crash and fled the scene northbound on Route 1, State Police said. A traffic stop was completed on the Buick, which matched the description of the fleeing vehicle, State Police said. Walker exhibited signs of intoxication and was arrested for DUI, State Police said. No injuries were reported in the crash. Charges were filed in District Court 32-2-48.
