State Police Blotter: Police Pursuit Ensues Following Mall Theft

Here is a list of recent incidents in Middletown and Edgmont townships reported by the . Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to call police at 484-840-1000. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

One-Vehicle Crash—Darlington Road near Valley Road at about 7:10 a.m. on March 31. A 20-year-old Brookhaven woman driving a Volvo S80 negotiated a left-hand curve at a rate of speed that was unsafe, according to State Police. The Volvo crossed over the lane and into the berm, then traveled back over the lane and hit the opposite berm and hit a tree, according to State Police. The woman sustained an injury and was cited with a traffic violation, according to State Police.

DUI—Route 1 on March 31. A 19-year-old was arrested in connection with driving under the influence of alcohol, according to State Police.

Theft from Motor Vehicle—Elwyn Train Station parking lot between 5:30 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. on March 30. Unknown persons took a tri-fold pickup truck cover off of a Dodge Ram truck, according to State Police.

Retail Theft— at at about 2:30 p.m. on March 27. A Chester man was arrested in connection with a theft from the store, according to State Police.

Theft— at the Granite Run Mall at about 8:47 p.m. on March 27. Three Philadelphia men allegedly stole miscellaneous phones from the store and mall security notified police, according to State Police. The suspect vehicle's description and license plate number was put out to police and a State Trooper saw the vehicle traveling south on Route 352, according to State Police. A pursuit ensued south on Rt. 352 into Chester City with several State Police troopers and local police departments involved, according to State Police. The State Police issued legal intervention to stop the vehicle and the three men were taken into custody without further incident, according to State Police. Charges will be filed in District Court 32-2-48.

Three-Vehicle Crash—Route 452 at Highland Avenue at about 1:35 p.m. on March 28. A Honda Civic and Mercedes-Benz C240 stopped due to traffic when a Ford Expedition, driven by a 35-year-old Phoenixville man, failed to stop in time and struck the Honda which then struck the Mercedes, according to State Police. The driver of the Honda was transported to Riddle Hospital for minor head injuries and the Phoenixville man was cited for not driving at a safe speed, according to State Police. The Expedition and the Honda were towed from the scene.

Theft from Motor Vehicle/Criminal Mischief— and parking lots on March 7. Unknown persons forced entry into four vehicles and side windows of each vehicle were broken, according to State Police. Various electronic items were stolen from three of the vehicles, according to State Police.
