State Police Blotter: Grandmother Charged After Leaving Infant Unattended in Car

Here is a list of recent incidents in Middletown and Edgmont townships reported by the . Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to call police at 484-840-1000. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Residential Burglary—Howarth Road between Aug. 16 and 17. Unknown persons gained assess to the residence and stole multiple items, State Police said. 

Drug Overdose/Possession—Providence Road in Edgmont Township at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 15. Emergency personnel responded to the residence for a report of a possible drug overdose, State Police said. When they arrived they observed a 24-year-old man unconscious sitting on the bathroom toilet with a fresh needle mark in his arm and a hypodermic needle on the floor, State Police said. The man was transported to Riddle Memorial Hospital. A small ziploc bag was then found in the toilet, State Police said. Possession of drug paraphernalia charged are to be filed.

Endangering Welfare of Child—Boscov's parking lot at the Granite Run Mall at approximately 1:10 p.m. on Aug. 12. Verna Darlene Cox, 62, from Philadelphia was arrested after she left her 20-month-old grandchild unattended in her vehicle while she was shopping in the store, State Police said. Cox was arrested in connection with endangering the welfare of a child and recklessly endangering another person, State Police said. Charges were filed in District Court 32-2-48.

Theft from a Motor Vehicle—West Chester Pike in Edgmont Township between Aug. 11 and 12. Unknown persons removed 12 wheels from three Audi vehicles that were in the parking lot of the YBH Audi Dealership, State Police said. The total value of the wheels was $13,749.14, State Police said.

Retail Theft—Kohl's Store at the Granite Run Mall at approximately 2 p.m. on Aug. 11. Three juvenile males from Upper Darby removed clothing from the store and left without paying, State Police said. 

Retail Theft—Kohl's Store at the Granite Run Mall at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 10. A 41-year-old man and a 43-year-old man, both from Philadelphia, removed clothing from the store and left without paying, State Police said.
