State Police Blotter: Ring and Run Results in Underage Drinking Arrest

Here is a list of recent incidents in Middletown and Edgmont townships reported by the . Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to call police at 484-840-1000. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Theft—Boscov’s at Granite Run Mall between December and July 5. A 48-year-old woman from Upland, took money from the register she was assigned to in the store’s homewares department, State Police said. The woman took the money from December through July totaling $510.50, State Police said.

Underage Drinking/Disorderly Conduct—Route 352 and Meadow Lane in Edgmont Township at approximately 1:50 a.m. on July 5. Two 15-year-old males from Glen Mills and Malvern ran through the neighborhood at Meadow Lane and knocked loudly on several houses and rang doorbells after midnight, State Police said. One of the accused was found to have consumed alcohol, State Police said.

DUI—Route 1 at Valley Road at approximately 10:30 p.m. on July 4. Nancy Louise Shade, 52, of Chester, was arrested and charged in connection with DUI, State Police said. Shade was operating her green Chevrolet Blazer in an erratic manner on Route 1 southbound near Route 452 when another motorist called 911 to alert police, State Police said. The motorist continued to follow Shade and advised police of her exact location, where police then observed her driving erratically and initiated a traffic stop, State Police said.

Attempted Theft from Motor Vehicle—S. Old Middletown Road at approximately 11:14 p.m. on July 3. The victims arrived home and observed a man inside one of their unlocked, parked vehicles, State Police said. The man fled on Knowlton Road after being confronted by the victims and did not remove anything from the vehicle, State Police said. The man was described as a white male between the ages of 17 and 21 with curly, brown hair and was riding a blue bicycle, State Police said. Criminal Mischief—West Chester Pike in Edgmont Township at approximately 11:20 p.m. on July 3. A vehicle had its rear driver’s side taillight smashed with an unknown object while parked across the street from Winner’s Circle Sports Grille, State Police said.

Burglary—War Admiral Drive between 9 and 11:30 a.m. on July 1. Unknown persons used force to break into the residence and pried open the rear kitchen door to gain entry, State Police said. Numerous electronics were removed from the residence, State Police said. 

Drug Possession—W. Baltimore Pike at approximately 7:20 p.m. on June 30. A 16-year-old man was arrested in connection with possession of marijuana, State Police said. Police on patrol observed a Chevrolet Silverado trespassing on private property and conducted a traffic stop, State Police said. During the traffic stop, a strong odor of marijuana emanated from the vehicle, State Police said. The juvenile admitted to being in possession of marijuana and was arrested and released to his parents, State Police said.

Theft by Unlawful Taking—Doctor Office of Rose Tree Medical Associates at approximately 11:15 a.m. on June 30. A 19-year-old white man from Aston was attending a doctor’s appointment and while inside the patient room stole the doctor’s prescription pad, State Police said. Once the man had the prescription pad he began fraudulently writing prescriptions at multiple pharmacies in the area, State Police said. Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to call police.

Theft from Motor Vehicle—Glen Riddle Road between June 26 and 27. The victim had his Magellan GPS unit stolen from his unlocked vehicle, State Police said.

Retail Theft/Controlled Substance—Claire’s Store at Granite Run Mall at approximately 5:15 p.m. on June 26. An 18-year-old woman from Media was arrested in connection with stealing $51.75 worth of merchandise from the store, State Police said. A search during her arrest revealed she was in possession of suspected marijuana and unknown pills, State Police said. Charges were filed in District Court 32-2-48.

Burglary—War Trophy Lane between 1 and 7 p.m. on June 24. Unknown persons entered the residence and took various items from inside, State Police said.

Burglary—New Liberty Baptist Church on Middletown Road between June 20 and 22. Unknown persons broke into a locked shed and removed a riding lawn mower, weed whacker and a backpack blower, State Police said.
