State Police Blotter: Search for Stolen Sanitation Bonus Results in Drug Charge

Here is a list of recent incidents in Middletown and Edgmont townships reported by the Pennsylvania State Police-Media Barracks. Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to call police at 484-840-1000. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Providing False Information—Route 352 at Elwyn Road at approximately 1 a.m. on Dec. 21. During a traffic stop a 19-year-old Media man gave police false information about his identity, State Police said. The man was processed and found to have a warrant from Delaware County, State Police said. He was then transported to Delaware County Prison to await arraignment and charges were filed in District Court 32-2-48.

Drug Possession—Ridley Creek Drive at approximately 9:05 a.m. on Dec. 20. Police were alerted to a suspicious dark red Dodge Ram with tinted windows that may have been involved with thefts of money left in trash containers for local sanitations workers as a holiday bonus, State Police said. Troopers located a vehicle matching the description, a search warrant was obtained and police found controlled substance inside. Timothy Coulter, 32, of Brookhaven was charged in connection with drug possession and related offenses in District Court 32-2-48, State Police said. There was no further information regarding the money thefts.

Minor Car Crash—Route 1 at approximately 5:10 p.m. on Dec. 19. A 17-year-old Media girl driving a Jeep Gran Cherokee was distracted and rear ended a 47-year-old Glen Mills woman driving a Ford Escape that was stopped in traffic, State Police said. No one was injuried and the 17-year-old driver was charged with a traffic violation. The Cherokee was towed from the scene and the Escape was able to drive away, State Police said. The left southbound lane of traffic was closed for less than 20 minutes, State Police said.

Minor Car Crash—Route 352 at approximately 4:05 p.m. on Dec. 19. A 77-year-old Rose Valley man driving a Nissan Infiniti was driving too fast for the road conditions and rear ended a 19-year-old Exton woman driving a Honda Civic that was stopped in traffic, State Police said. The man, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered minor cuts to his head, State Police said, no one else was injuried. Both vehices were driven away from the scene and the 77-year-old driver was charged with a traffic violation, State Police said.

Firearms Act Violation—Route 352 at Moore Drive at approximately 3:36 a.m. on Dec. 16. Carlos Celin Colon, 19, of Chester was arrested after a traffic stop was conducted for multiple traffic violations and a handgun was discovered at his feet, State Police said. Charges will be filed in District Court 32-2-48.

Retail Theft—Granite Run Mall at approximately 8:33 p.m. on Dec. 14. Unknown persons stole multiple items from multiple stores and fled the scene when confronted by security, State Police said.
