State Police Blotter: Woman Steals Sweatshirt, Returns to Store Wearing It

Here is a list of recent incidents in Middletown and Edgmont townships reported by the . Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to call police at 484-840-1000. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Minor Car Crash—S. Pennell Road at approximately 6:23 p.m. on Nov. 15. A 2002 Ford Focus was traveling south when the driver drove onto the shoulder in an attempt to pass a vehicle waiting to turn left onto Riddlewood Drive, State Police said. The driver struck a large boulder on the front yard of a house and came to a stop about two feet past the boulder, State Police said. No one was injured.

Harassment— at Granite Run Mall on Nov. 15. A 23-year-old man and 20-year-old woman, both of Chester, threatened to beat up the victim after a dispute over purchasing some products from the store and whether there should be a discount, State Police said. It was later determined that the man was wanted by the Delaware County Sheriff's Department.

Theft—Park Mount Road at approximately 3 a.m. on Nov. 13. Unknown persons climbed a chain-link fence with barbed wire on top and stole a 20-foot cable filled with copper, valued at $1,000, State Police said.

Theft from Motor Vehicle—Edgmont Country Club between 3 and 8 p.m. on Nov. 13. Unknown persons entered the victim's vehicle and took musical instruments valued at $4,000, State Police said.

Retail Theft— at the Granite Run Mall on Nov. 11 and 12. A 24-year-old Aston woman and a 25-year-old Drexel Hill woman entered the store and selected a pair of shoes, boots, a black and a blue hooded sweatshirt all valued at $290, State Police said. The women were observed on live video concealing the items and fleeing the store without paying for them, State Police said. The next day, the same two women returned to the store, one wearing the same blue sweatshirt that was stolen the day prior, State Police said. The store's loss prevention officer immediately recognized the women and watched the two begin to select more items, State Police said. Police were contacted and the women were arrested after they left the store without paying for another $250 worth of merchandise, State Police said. Charges will be filed on both women in District Court 32-2-48.

Theft from Motor Vehicle—Elwyn Train Station parking lot between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 9. Unknown persons smashed in the windows of seven victim's vehicles while the victims were at work, State Police said. The unknown persons removed multiple personal items from the vehicles and fled the scene, State Police said. When the first victim returned from work and discovered the crime she alerted police.

DUI—Elwyn Road at approximately 9:57 p.m. on Nov. 8. Police observed a suspicious vehicle in the woods and a 49-year-old Springfield man was the driver, State Police said. Field sobriety tests were administered and the man was arrested for driving under the influence, State Police said.

Theft by Unlawful Taking—Wawa at W. Baltimore Pike at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Nov. 8. Unknown persons entered the store and removed two inventory scanners, then fled the scene, State Police said.

Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition—High Point Drive between September and November. The victim reported his hunting weapons were removed from his shed behind his residence where they were stored, State Police said. A Remington 30 Odd Six 760 pump action rifle with a scope and wooden stock and a 12 gauge shotgun were the weapons stolen, State Police said.

Burglary—Mt. Alverno Road between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Nov. 3. Unknown persons broken into the residence and stole costume jewelry valued at approximately $200, State Police said.
