Tree Limb, Downed Wires Cause Upper Providence Fire

Downed wires caused a fire at a residence in Upper Providence Township early Thursday morning.

A house fire at an Upper Providence residence was caused by a down tree limb that then brought wires down on the house Thursday morning, fire officials said.

When fire officials arrived, fire was evident on the roof of the single-story house as a result of a tree limb that fell and made contact with power lines that then landed on the roof, according to MacCain.

The fire was contained to the roof area of the house. 

There were no injuries. 

The fire was extinguished by about 7 a.m. after PECO was able to turn off power to the high voltage line. 

North Providence and Bishop Hollow roads were closed in the area for a period of time due to the firefighting operation, according to MacCain. 

Media, Newtown Square, Broomall, Springfield and Riddle Memorial Hospital Paramedics responded to the scene.
