State Police arrested and charged a Virginia man in connection with an attempt to steal a vehicle at gun point and then later stealing a dump truck.

Clayton Crandell, 24, of Clifton, VA faces numerous charges in District Court 32-2-48, including two robbery felonies and a third felony for receiving stolen property, according to the Delaware County Daily Times.

At about 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 5, Crandell allegedly attempted to rob a 17-year-old of their vehicle by threatening the teen with a gun in the parking lot of Georgio's Pizza on S. Pennell Road, according to State Police.

But he failed to gain control of the vehicle and left the area on foot.

Crandell then gained access to a heavy duty dump truck which was parked on Hunter Street down the road from Georgio's Pizza and was seen driving south on Route 452, according to State Police.

State Police located the vehicle on Rt. 452 as it was approaching Aston Township and with the help of Aston Police, the vehicle was stopped in Zac's Hamburgers parking lot in Aston, according to State Police.

Crandell was taken into custody without incident.
