Absentee Ballots Available, Deadline Approaching

The deadline for applications for absentee ballots is 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 17.

At a council meeting on March 28, county Councilman David J. White announced that the Delaware County Election Bureau will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 14, for the purpose of distributing absentee ballots for use in the Presidential Primary Election to be held on April 24, according to a county press release.

The deadline for applications for absentee ballots is 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 17. All voted absentee ballots must be received by the county's Election Bureau by 5 p.m. Friday, April 20. Extended office hours for voting in person by absentee ballot is Saturday prior to the last Tuesday (before the election) from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., according to the Election Bureau.

The Election Bureau is located on the ground floor of the , adjacent to the Court House, at 201 W. Front Street in Media. Regular hours for public business are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

Absentee ballot applications can be found online for registered voters of Delaware County and are available upon request (written or oral) at the Bureau of Elections. 

According to the Election Bureau, absentee ballots are sent worldwide as needed for each election. State law allows residents to vote by absentee ballot if they are absent from the municipality of residence on Election Day.

In addition, a separate application must be made for each electio. The county reminds residents that Pennsylvania state law prohibits anyone other than the voter themselves from hand delivering their voted absentee ballot to the Delaware County Bureau of Election, except for those with disabilities.

Polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Delaware County on Election Day.
