County Marks Irish-American Heritage Month

Delaware County Council declared March to be Irish-American Heritage Month March 7.

A resolution declaring March to be Irish-American Heritage Month to acknowledge the accomplishments of Irish immigrants and their descendants in America and their contributions to the fabric of daily life in the United States was presented at the March 7 meeting by Councilman John P. McBlain to (from left) John Gallagher, Grand Marshal of the to be held on March 17, St. Patrick’s Day; Steve Burns, Chairman of the Springfield Township St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee; Michael J. Bradley Jr., of Haverford Township, Director of the Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 11 and a Past-President of the St. Patrick’s Day Observance Association; McBlain; and Pat Mulhern, President of Joseph E. Montgomery Division 65, Ancient Order of Hibernians, of which all four recipients are members.

Joining in the presentation were (2d row, from left) Council Chairman Thomas J. McGarrigle, Councilman David J. White, Councilwoman Colleen P. Morrone and Council Vice Chairman Mario J. Civera Jr.
