Defeated Council Candidate Seeks Appointment to Vacant Seat

Delaware County Times reports that Democrat Keith Collins requests office.

Seeking to fill a soon-to-be-vacant council seat, Democrat Keith Collins nominated himself for county office, the Delaware County Times reports. 

Collins, who failed in his , threw his hat in the ring to replace Chairman Jack Whelan. A Republican, Whelan was elected as Delaware County's district attorney in November and will vacate his council seat in January. Council will then name a replacement to fill the remaining two years of Whelan's term.

From Ridley Township, Collins announced his interest in the position at the council's Nov. 29 meeting during public comment. In November, he received 38,286 votes—the most among Democrats. He lost to Republicans Colleen Morrone, Thomas McGarrigle and John McBlain.
