'Hero Day' Proclaimed In Honor of Annual Hero Bowl

This year's Hero Bowl will take place on May 31 at Widener University.

A resolution declaring May 31 to be Hero Day–when the annual Hero Bowl all-star high school football game will be played, was presented by Delaware County Council Chairman Thomas J. McGarrigle to County Detective Robert T. Lythgoe (left), chairman of the 2012 Hero Bowl and president of the .

The game, which pits the best Delaware County high school seniors in a benefit game for the Hero Scholarship Fund, will begin at 7.30 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at Widener University in Chester.

Admission is $5 with tickets available at all in the county as well as at the gate the night of the game.

The Hero Scholarship Fund provides scholarships for the children of police, firefighters and emergency medical personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
